Scrutineering

TECHNICAL ISSUES

There have been a number of rule changes to the 2006 Blue book. The main ones that affect Stage Rallying are as follows.

HELMETS

The Snell standard SA1995 is no longer allowed, only SA2000 or SA2005. Other useable Helmets are as Q10.3.1 on page 239 of the Blue Book.

SEAT BELTS

All seat belts used on Special Stage rallies must have currently FIA Homologated Seat Belts complying with Q 2.1.2. On page 234 of the Blue Book. These have an expiry year label on them, so if purchasing new belts make sure that you buy ones with a long expiry date on them.

GENERAL ITEMS

NUMBER PLATES

Please make sure that front number plates are of the correct size and layout. The correct size for the figures/letters is 75mm high and 50mm wide. They must be mounted on a flat surface facing forward. Plates mounted on the curvature of the bonnet are not acceptable.

HAND BRAKE CABLES

Again make sure that your vehicle has a mechanical means of handbrake mechanism fitted.

ENGINE CUT OUTS

Over the winter months the mechanical pull cables have a bad habit of seizing up, please check yours before scrutineering. Make sure the cable works smoothly and most importantly the Engine Does Stop.

PLUMBED IN FIRE EXTINGUISHER

Again check the pull cable and if an electric unit check the battery and connections.
